The lymph vessels consist of lymph vessels, ducts, nodes, and other tissues that form a network of branches that reach most of the body’s tissues. Basically, the lymphatic system plays a key role in the immune system, fluid balance, and elimation of toxins in the body. It also absorbs and transports fatty acids from the digestive system. It is composed of a large network of lymphatic vessels, which are similar to the veins and capillaries of the circulatory system, that carry a clear fluid called lymph directionally towards the heart.

How to maintain a healthy lymphatic system.

1. Drink plenty of water
Stay hydrated! Keep the fluid flow fresh by drinking plenty of water. Also, avoid excessive alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate the body.

2. Exercise
Get moving! The more you are contracting and moving your muscles and joints, the better the lymph will flow. It’s extremely important to move and exercise to make the lymph flow nicely.

3. Fruits and Veggies
Eat a diet full of fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants. This will help  your detoxification ability and will help keep the lymph clean and flowing while boosting your immune system's ability. Various bioflavonoids found in foods are able to reduce edema or swelling and improve lymph flow.

4. Massage
Lymphatic massage and other manual manipulation therapies can improve lymph and immune health.

5. Relax
Stress reduction and relaxation are also key ingredients of optimizing lymph flow. Just think of this as an exercise for your circulation Find forms of exercise that use and contract your muscles. Doing yoga,  pilates, or other movement-based practices are some ideas!
